Hot in the City

It sure is.  Summer's holding on just a little longer, after that delicious preview of autumn from a short while ago.

The Raiders finally won today!  They beat Cleveland.  I am pumped.  This has only added to my lingering excitement from last night.

Yesterday saw the season premieres of the CW network's Legion of Superheroes and The Batman animated series.  LSH has aged the characters somewhat, maybe very late teens or very early 20s, and a new Superman from the 41st Century.  The Batman introduced Superman to that series' continuity, and did some role-reversal - Superman declined Bats' invitation to the Justice League (or whatever it winds up being called), making the Big Blue Boy Scout out to be the mildly cranky loner.  The episode featured a lovely little nod to the Terminator movies, too.

Heroes returns tomorrow night, bracketed by a couple of other genre shows on NBC.  The network's also doing a new Bionic Woman series, and I'm starting to think that maybe NBC could wind up being what Fox was a decade or so ago - home to some nifty SF/fantasy stuff that really delivers.  Also, Smallville returns on Thursday!
