People who Died
I've worked close to 50 hours in each of the last two weeks, and blew off a call for a hospital shift tonight. I'm tired, man, and I am not ashamed of it. There won't be many more hospital shifts, not for a while anyway. A few nights ago, a patient got away from the sitter - don't yet know the circumstances and don't really care to - and either harmed or killed themself. Needless to say, the client was not happy, and this is cause to terminate the contract. And to terminate the guard.
Had my first real incident yesterday while marking time at MSD. Some dude came walking down 7th Street, and picked up a brick from somewhere and tried to break out the windows on a division pickup. My partner and I got him calmed down until LMPD arrived, and nothing really came of it. Guy had some mental health issues, had just been released from county jail and hadn't yet recovered his property and medication. Just a fellow having a bad day. No property damage, and more importantly no one harmed, and that's good all around.
Played in an X-Wing tournament on Saturday, placing 8th of 16 players. It was a very good day of play, and I picked a nice pile of alt-art prize cards. Flew a pretty simple squadron - all T-65 X-Wings. Wedge was my only ace; he had two Red Squadron Veterans and a Blue Squadron Escort supporting him. I lost to a really good Han + Corran squadron (should have focused on the Falcon instead of the E-Wing) and a new Separatist squadron (not sure what I should have done differently); beat a First Order TIE group and a three-ship Republic squadron. Pretty good way to spend a Saturday afternoon. I mean, heck, what else was I going to do, watch basketball?
Saw something curious on I-264 today - an unmarked full-sized van with police lights and a marked Explorer running lights heading east and exiting at Southern Parkway. Heading to what's turned out to be an ongoing incident - bomb squad and SWAT and people kept out of their neighborhood for the duration.
