Rockets' Red Glare

This is going to be an interesting afternoon.

When my schedule shifted at the end of last year, I was able to keep my Thursday evenings clear for gaming.  Every day except Thursdays, I'm here from noon until 8;  today, it's 9-6, sometimes out at 5.  The daily schedule is like this:  9-11, I go through the daily paper, marking ads as necessary and preparing physical tearsheets for the few clients that still need it.  Mail stuff out, some basic record-keeping.  After that, I'm checking and proofing ads for later publication and getting them onto the print servers.  At noon, I cover my old desk for 90 minutes, so somebody can attend a meeting.  I average something like 4 ads in those 90 minutes, so I use a lot of that time to work on the night's game.  After that, an hour for lunch.  Until today, I snatched up the list of ads that have to be completed for the night's print run and started clearing it.

This week, I was advised that until further notice, to not do that last thing.  Just get ads cleared out.  The woman whose responsibility this is often doesn't quite get started until, oh, 5 or so, due to reasons best not gone into.  I don't know that she's been advised of this change.  There are a couple of us waiting for an implosion.

In other dramatic developments, I'm really looking forward to tonight's game.
