New Theory

This was a good weekend. Breakfast date Saturday morning, quite a bit of reading and the last two GT7 weekly challenge races in the afternoon. Slept late-ish on Sunday, watched a lot of racing and the Louisville Kings game, read some more, started painting some Mechs.

Then decided I wasn't at all happy with the initial coats on the Mechs and put 'em in Pine-Sol. I'll try again with different primer and paint in a couple of days. Just for laughs, while mucking around with the Locusts, I put them next to a Marauder 2, and that assault 'Mech just eclipsed the two little guys. Much like Wu-Tang, 100 tons of walking fusion-powered war machine ain't nothing to fuck with.

So, the Kings. Expansion team, started off the season 0-3, traded some players around and got real good. Ended the season 6-4 and got into the post-season. Drew the St. Louis Battlehawks for the playoff game, played hard, and got the win. Louisville's kicker nailed two 60+ yard field goals, which are good for four points in the UFL and I don't care what league or level you're playing at, that's impressive. So, the Kings go to DC this coming Saturday to play the DC Defenders for the UFL title. DC ended the season 5-5, and early odds have Louisville slight favorites. Should be a good game. Just have to find somewhere to watch it.

comments

Survived Much Worse

Last night, I had plans to get out to another Office Depot location and get a new bookcase. I didn't quite make it. Sundays have become very very lazy days, doing very little and recharging and napping on the couch. I think I'm self-sabotaging my Sundays by getting up at whatever ungodly early hour I wake up on weekend mornings. Next weekend, if not sleeping in, I'm for sure lying in.

Yesterday's Mutant Crawl Classics kickoff was darned good. The GM is in Great Britain, the other three players are in Romania and Slovakia, and we all got along like a house on fire. Good roleplay, jokes and banter, just a really good time. My mutant fox bought the farm in the first encounter, but the other three (two Pure Strain Humans and a bamboo plantient) survived their test of adulthood and stepped up to first level. Haven't chosen classes for the Humans yet, leaning towards Rover for Sickly William and Healer for Stout Evan.

Pacing myself reading a big 800+ page Conan collection. This, the recent Lankhmar read, the Empire of the East sage - this is the fantasy reading I'm here for. I loved Gideon the Ninth and N. K. Jemisin and everything else, of course. Sometimes, though, it's good to just spend some time with a couple of thieves or a straightforward barbarian adventurer or some crazy kid who stumbles upon a prewar nuclear-powered main battle tank.

comments
