Final Cycles

After 7+ years of service, my ol' desktop crapped out tonight.  At a guess, the power supply failed, and while that's not an especially expensive fix, anything I do to a machine I bought in '99 is probably going to be throwing good money after bad.  So, coming real soon now will be a replacement.  Will have to pull the second hard drive from this one to install in the new one, as there's a goodly amount of data there I'll want to keep (and, well, it's a perfectly serviceable drive).

I'm feeling better tonight than I have all day.  Still not anywhere close to good, but somewhat less bad.  I'm going to take it easy tomorrow and hopefully be ready for work come Monday morning.

While running around last night doing various and sundry things, I poked my head into KYTRade. Hardware pricing is competitive and they are perfectly willing to sell you a machine with XP, not Vista, installed. 2-year parts and labor warranty.

I noticed last night that Dell has reintroduced XP to pretty much their entire line, not just the high end XPS stuff.

This is a pretty damning comment on Vista.

Let me check. I think I've a spare ATX power supply laying around left from when I outgrew my last one. Unless you've already ordered the replacement. AT worst it keeps you going until the new one shows up.

That'd be awesome. I'll bring the ol' desktop to this weekend's game, if that's cool.
