Hot in the City

Today is the 25th anniversary of the first shuttle flight, and the 45th of the first manned spaceflight.  We're still 32 years away from 2001, but we're getting there.  The future lies now with private industry, I believe.

The strangest things ... my father and I are both job-hunting.  He's got three companies lined up, and the most promising is Precision Motor Transport - luxury car haulers.  Big big money.

Spent some time after work last night at the local NMRA chapter's open display last night, talking to a few members and getting some inspiration.  I'm still an armchair modeler;  working on a club layout will get some skills for me to use on my own layout.

Happy Passover![Unknown site tag]

Wow.

We had a big cardboard shuttle Columbia in my kindergarten classroom to celebrate. It didn't stay there long, and I was barely allowed into it. I was probably the only kid in the class who desperately wanted to be in it, too.

Are those the guys who have the model show at the Horse Park every Christmas? There are some little old men who volunteer for them that are MEAN! LOL.

No idea about a Christmas show, but I wouldn't be surprised. To be fair, if I had to be around [BROAD STEREOTYPE] horse people [/BROAD STEREOTYPE], I'd be cranky, too.

I agree. Private industry is the fututre of space travel.

I'm seriously considering getting people together and finding (or starting) a Yuri's Night party next year. Tis a great thing to celebrate and a good excuse to drink vodka (not that I need an excuse).

I think there are much, much worse reasons to get together with people.
