Policy of Truth

Spykeetom called today.  Still sans luggage.  Poor dear girl.

Afternoon of storms here in Lexington.  A couple of nasty, fast-moving pop-up thunderstorms.  Knocked out power and flooded streets around town;  something like 1100 people lost power around campus.  Hail and stuff.  No damage here at home.

For you baseball fans in the audience, Roger Clemens is the starting pitcher for the Lexington Legends Tuesday night.  Tickets were selling very very quickly today.

Today, our state's lieutenant governor announced that he would not stand for reelection with the governor in 2007.  Can't really call LtGov Pence a rat, but he's the biggest departer-of-sinking-ship so far.  I will just about bet that Larry Forgy is slavering at the chance to run with Fletcher, blind as he is to his own insignificance.

Gotta clear out some voice mails and head off to bed.

Forgy's still out there? *shudder* I thought he died years ago.

Yep. He's doing his level best to stay relevant.

A few weeks after the hiring stories started breaking, he was on a call-in show on WHAS. The man's a blowhard, mean-spirited and vile. I called in and asked a question that's been on my mind since this whole mess started - "Why haven't any of the state's Republican luminaries stepped up to bat for Fletcher? Where are McConnell and Bunning and Rogers and the rest?"

You could hear him start to boil over in the intervening couple of seconds.

Hearing Bunning, McConnell, and Rogers mentioned as "luminaries" just makes my head break.

McConnell, I think, is a good Senator for the state. He always looks like someone just goosed him, but he does a good job of sending projects back this way and responding to the constituency. Bunning ... Bunning's an embarassment. A doddering, vicious old man who should have been put out to pasture a long time ago.

We were under another t-storm watch this afternoon, but the cell went north towards Cincinnati.

Hi there.. friended you! And yes, I'm really psyched about Roger Clemons tomorrow night. We can't go, don't have tickets, but it's still just exciting to know he'll be here. I saw Nolan Ryan pitch once, and it was an honor to see that, at Yankee Stadium, no less.

It's going to be something. Insight's access channel is going to carry the game, and ESPN is going to extend its 6pm show to around 8 or so to cover Clemons' pitches.
