Local Girls

Looked over our election guide last night, which led me to vote-smart.org. Looked specifically at our state Senate race, and I'm feeling better about not just voting against Alice Forgy Kerr, but for James Keller.  Keller's comments on the NPAT are remarkably in-line with my own beliefs.

This weekend is Worldwide D&D Games Day, and a store over in Frankfort is putting on a big to-do.  May make the drive to check it out and, hokey-smokes, play something.  Or put together a Stargate mission and get some folks in on that.  Or something.

I've met both candidates in the previous election. Alice is not a *bad* person, she's just a little maligned, and doesn't always know if she's coming or going. I met her at a republican function with Jim and she was nice and all, but i wasn't impressed. On the other hand, when Keller was running for justice (I believe he was appointed then ran for releection), he was very nice. He came to the office, actually chatted with people. I didn't feel like I was brushed off, like most politicians.

Kerr's ('scuse me - _Forgy_ Kerr's) virulent "family values as defined by me" screeds turn me completely off. She also tries to trade on her maiden name, and like Larry, just doesn't see how irrelevant that name is to most of the state.

So her maiden name is Forgy? HA! If I was her I'd have gotten married just to get rid of that one :p

Family ties are weird sometimes. I guess, when she first ran in 2000 or 2002, having the Forgy name attached gave her some added legitimacy.
