Stay Up Late

Boatloads of pics from Archon have come across my Facebook feed this week, and I've gotten the soft sell on attending next year. I'm about 90% sold on going and running a couple of games; I can't imagine that we won't have Spycraft Third on shelves by then, and *-***** should be available as well.

The Dodgers won their NLDS, but have dropped the first two games of the NLCS to the Cardinals. The Cards are probably the best team in baseball, so this is nothing to get heartbroken over, but ... well, LA's my team.

Spent Friday and Saturday at The Farm. I think this is going to become a more regular thing with me - at least once a month. It's a zero-cost getaway, I can write and relax, and I come back with so much stress removed.

Better Days

I finished reading Hot War this weekend, and I'm quite impressed with it.  The setting material is remarkably grim, but it certainly offers opportunity for some great gaming.  I would dearly love to run a short game of this to see how the mechanics for emulating trust and agendas work.

Started re-reading World on Fire (Spycraft), since I'm thinking about using that setting for the upcoming game.  I started sketching out characters last night, and I do believe I'm going to start them all off at first level.  My curiosity about mapping out progress through the career is getting the best of me.

Abandoned the Star Wars game I'd planned in favor of Risk 2210AD yesterday.  Couple of new members of the Meetup group joined OGBJim and me, and we had a good time.  My play style remains entirely too conservative for any real success at the game, but sometimes it's fun to be the guy who can wreck somebody else's offensive with exceedingly lucky die rolls.

Cancelled my hotel reservation for Archon - or have I already mentioned that?  I was torn about it, as Archon's always a good time, but I'm just not all that excited about going this time around.  I've had this feeling for a while that maybe I've had all of the fun that Archon has to offer me.  A year from now, I may be champing at the bit to get out there again, but for 2008, it's just not happening for me.

Time to get stuff together and head towards the office.  Should find out which of my friends are leaving today or tomorrow.

Opportunities

It is exceedingly strange to not wake up in Collinsville this morning.  I should be in Illinois this weekend, dammit.

I think the mail issues have been sorted out.  Got "normal" mail yesterday, including the test message Tegyrius sent.

Got on a real bender writing 2013 this week, too.  Lots of words down, and they're good. Spykeetom is off to IU tomorrow for a saxophone class, and won't be back until very late, so I'm going to spend much of tonight and tomorrow writing more.  No way on Earth I'll finish the entire job this weekend, but I can put a mighty dent into the thing.

Last night was a new episode of Supernatural.  Slight shift away from the Big Plot - murderous clown thing.  For whatever reason, my DVR didn't record it, though.
