Last Dance
Dec. 11th, 2006 11:44 pmSaturday was, well, a bunch of fun. Ran Mom&Dad around for much of the day. Lots of time at Best Buy - Dad shopping for the LCD TV, me showing Mom some computer stuff and what exactly it is that we got for Micahalia. Over to Bed Bath & Beyond, and I thought Mom was going to asplode with sheer joy. Dad was happy enough when he found a sample/demo table of some kind of whoop-de-shit coffee maker. Across Nicholasville Road to Lexington Green. Puttering around Joseph-Beth. Mom looked through a dozen crockpot cookbooks before deciding on a teeny little one ... which she promptly put down while looking for a book on interpreting dreams. Over to CompUSA for more computer shopping. Saw HP's new Pavilion Slimline machines. Holy smokes. Tiny little thing. I am entranced.
Out of LexGreen and off to the Hamburg region for a visit to Liquor Barn. Dad once again found a sample table - Ghirardelli chocolates. He was again happy as a lark. Got clear of there, and back to my place for a while. Dad became very confused at the array of remotes (I had finally set up my home theater kit just before they got here). When he went to sleep watching some college basketball game or another, I cranked up Gran Turismo 4. He woke up at the sound of engines, and even raced for a couple of laps (used a modified F-150 Lightning, for those curious).
Discussions of DSL service at their place, and setting up a wireless network for Micahalia's DS.
Met up with Matt&Melissa for dinner. Large tip left for waitress for putting up with Dad's nonsense.
Mom left her computer here. It has Problems. Dead keyboard. Ungodly mess of virus infestation. Disabled drivers from here to Wyoming. I'm hoping that a) she'll find her system restore discs and b) that'll fix this train wreck. Dad's talking about just buying a new computer - if he does, I'm claiming the existing one, fixing it (or getting it fixed), and relegating my old desktop to file server duty.
Sunday. Lots of laying around. Played Growlanser. Went to a party in Richmond with some of Erin's bandmates. Back here, a little writing, bed. Got to sleep quickly enough, for once. Erin calls at 1:30 a.m., just to see if I got home okay. While I appreciated the concern, it took me the better part of an hour to get back to sleep.
Today. More shopping. Gift for Mom, Erin, and Erin's mom. Only one person left on the list. My father. Have decided on his, and will order it tonight or tomorrow. Easy day at work. Gives me hope for the rest of the week. Erin finishes her finals Thursday night, and I'm going to get her after work that evening.
