Faking the Books
May. 3rd, 2008 10:00 amIron Man is just that good. Casting, music, design, story, everything - it's bang-on. The after-credits scene is a gem, and there are hints at events of later movies, like a terrorist group named the Ten Rings and James Rhodes looking at a suit of armor and saying "Next time, baby." Robert Downey is perfect as Tony Stark, and holy cow, but Jeff Bridges was wonderfully menacing as Obadiah Stane.
Last night, I watched Zodiac. Surprisingly good, particularly given how much I hate David Fincher. This isn't his normal ... crapstravaganza. He puts together a lengthy, but still tightly-done, movie on the Zodiac killer (Google or Wikipedia will reveal all, should you not already know).
My truck's showing its age again. The top gear is failing. If I keep the big guy in drive, no problems, but shifting up to overdrive results in some transmission slippage.
Started playing Rogue Galaxy (PS2) this week. Only barely into it, but it's promising.
Now reading Spook Country, by William Gibson. More news as it develops.
Going for a 20" iMac, as the 24" model is just too big for my use. Also, considering an Asus Eee for The Niece's Christmas present.
