Spycraft tonight.  Down one player because of a new job.  A more than valid reason to miss.

Spiking fuel costs.  $2.89/gallon for 87 octane last night.  Thank you, Mister Bush.  Thank you right to Hell.

The CEO and two other executives from our new owners are touring the H-L this morning.  A co-worker and I were expressly forbidden from wearing our much-less-then-professional t-shirts.

Tell me how the CEO thing goes on IM. I'm vastly curious.

The McClatchy Company - bought Knight-Ridder entirely. Going to spin off 12 of the 32 K-R papers; the H-L is not one of them.

Will do - nothing really Earth-shattering. Gary Pruitt seems to be a good fellow - the newsroom is happy as larks, since Pruitt's gateway into the industry was a career as a First Amendment lawyer.

I've gotta top off the Mustang tonight or tomorrow, and I can already feel the sting.
