The Guns of Brixton
May. 31st, 2006 10:12 amTested every locomotive I own last night. The ancient Life-Like GP38-2 still pulls well, but has some problems with electrical pickup here and there. The SD9 would be a good choice for the "inner loop," but it's got some problems negotiating one of the switches; the Dash 8-40CW is going to spend lots of its time there, as will the 4-axle freight locos. The flagships of my collection, the SD50s and SD60s can handle the tighter curves (9.75" radius) on the inner loop, but they're so long that they overhang the inside of the curves, and look ridiculous. So, mine runs, long coal drags, stuff like that. Y'know, what the prototypes were built for.
I'm happy enough with the track plan. Need to finalize the industries - the mine is the big one, of course. I think a transfer/shipping warehouse model I've got will do nicely. A fuel and oil distributor, probably, too. Maybe an engine service facility?
Next up - scenery base and wiring. Pictures, as demanded by Carter, will come soon.
