tracker7There are good discussions on the death of Heath Ledger and some unfortunate fallout over with kingyak and cybogoblin. Rather than reiterate and recycle here, I point you there. Pay special attention to pastoralice, as she is wise.
This has been a good week for weather. Been plenty cold, yes, but cold in January is greatly preferable to 90F in October. We got some light snow on a couple of mornings, enough to make things quiet and tempt Erin and I into our traditional early-morning "I has snow" phone calls.
Bought my first Advance Wars game this week - Advance Wars: Days of Ruin, for the DS. Nice little game - turn-based strategy, with single-player campaign and multiplayer online modes. I'm starting to understand the hubbub these games have generated. Also, in a fit of man consumerism, I bought a Wii Zapper, and it's highly recommended. The included game, Link's Crossbow Training, is fun, and when the Zapper is used on a committed shooter (like one of the Medal of Honor games), the experience is greatly improved - until you have to throw a grenade, anyway.
Newsarama has an interview with Daniel and Charles Knauf, the current writers on Iron Man. There's a good point made there - IM is one of the better-written books in Marvel's stable right now, and there are apparently two versions of Iron Man in the Marvel Universe, at least from the perspective of the writers. There's the one in the IM series, where Tony's still doing his damnedest to do the right thing, but suffering greatly because of his own hubris, and the one that shows up in other books, where Tony appears in a crisis, acts like a jackass, and whatever villain or hero or whatever is on-hand beats on him.
This week's issue of Iron Man (#25, in case you were wondering) has some nice bonus stuff tucked into the back - little writeups on significant armors and a preview of the upcoming Iron Man: Viva Las Vegas limited series. Jon Favreau's writing that one, and with what we've seen of his work on the movie, I think this will be a good read.
I'm debating the merits of heading to Louisville one day this weekend for a model train show. Weather forecast has cleared off, so the drive won't be bad, but I could really stand to work on L5R and ConX, too.
