I didn't make as much progress on movies this weekend as I'd hoped - only saw one, and that was tonight's late showing of Spider-Man 3.  It really is the weakest of the three (so far) Spidey movies, and I'm going to lay most of the blame for that at the feet of the editors.  The smooth-walking-jive-talking-Peter-Parker sequence should have wound up on the cutting room floor.  I was plenty cool with the multitude of supervillains, and that was a pleasant surprise.  The ebb and flow of the Peter-Harry relationship worked for me, for whatever reason.  Maybe I have a weakness for villains redeeming themselves at the end.  Bryce Dallas Howard made a strikingly lovely Gwen Stacy, too.

Trailers:  Transformers (hee!), Rescue Dawn (Christian Bale is shot down over Vietnam), new Harry Potter (just end already, will you?), and Across the Universe (looks plenty trippy, and has scads of Beatles covers in the trailer).
