Picked up the truck from Garage #2 Friday afternoon, then went to Somerset with Mom&Dad.  Humongous dinner with them, a little shopping, then back home.

Saturday morning, Dad struck out for Harrodsburg to take a look at a farm a friend of his bought.  Mom and I headed to Lexington for some gift scouting.  I think she's picked out a home theater setup for Dad.  We hit a few more places before winding up at Half-Price Books, where she bought a small library of books on diabetes management.  Nothing so high-minded for me - I bought a slow cooker cookbook and a Star Wars RPG 2nd Edition R&E rulebook (hooray!).  Met Dad at Red Robin in Nicholasville.  Darn tasty burgers.

Saturday evening?  Slack, slack, slack.  Finished reading On Call in Hell, a US Navy surgeon's account of his deployment to Fallujah.  Rolled eyes up into my head about large amounts of sound and fury signifying not a damn thing (not related to the book or its subject, I mean).

Today, I worked on the finale to a 7th Sea game.  Big grocery shopping trip.  Saw the Bengals and Cowboys both pull out come-from-behind wins, the Broncos beat the Steelers, and the Red Sox wallop the Indians.  The World Series starts Wednesday - Colorado Rockies versus Boston Red Sox.

Started re-reading Eaters of the Dead.

Dozed off and on this afternoon.  Not especially sleepy now, and I think I'm going to use this time of insomnia to make another posting about the upcoming Traveller game.

The slow cooker break-in was a smashing success.  3-pound roast, with a rub of minced garlic and cracked black peppercorns, cooked for ten hours in a mix of Worcestershire sauce, balsamic vinegar, soy sauce, and dry mustard.  I started it right before I left for work, and when I got home, the apartment smelled terrific.  [personal profile] elalyr and [personal profile] tegyrius came over for dinner and another run-through of the wedding ceremony (holy cow, less than a week to go), and the roast was extremely well-received - as was Elalyr's chocolate bread.  Hoo-boy.

Anybody out there besides me remember Brave New World, a superhero RPG put out by Pinnacle/Alderac Entertainment Group some years back?  There's a BNW movie in the works.  Seriously - check it out.

China's announced a lunar probe launch sometime in the next week.  More power to 'em.  Maybe seeing a new space race among Asian nations will spur the USA to get back into the business of expanding the human frontier, instead of military adventurism.

I gotta get some writing done tonight.
