Plenty of good gaming over the weekend. Friday night was Epic X-Wing, with two matches this time around - Imperial-Imperial and Imperial-S&V. I flew an Upsilon shuttle, and a half-dozen First Order TIE variants escorting a Raider; we faced another Raider and 10-12 mixed TIEs. My teammate and I decided to play more aggressively this time around and threw everything against the opposing Raider. It worked - the opponent tried crossing the T in front of our Raider, but had no fighter support close by. He split his fire between too many targets while we focused our fire, and the Raider just crumbled. After that, our Raider supported my TIEs in mopping up, and we got the win.
Saturday saw a whole lot of Lovecraft gaming - since none of us went to FFG's Arkham Nights event, we decided to have our own (without hookers and blackjack). I played a couple games of Mansions of Madness, winning the second by completing my character's Insanity goal; taught Elder Sign; played Eldritch Horror; watched Pandemic Cthulhu. Mansions is a good game, and the app-driven function in the second edition is pretty terrific. There's a really good game in Eldritch Horror, but the person teaching it wasn't very good; Pandemic Cthulhu is a not-too-inspired reskin, and the size difference between Investigator and Cultist tokens was enough to make me think that good ol' Arkham was seeing an invasion of blue-green-robed Jawas instead of crazed followers of unknowable entities.
The Dodgers are up 3-1 on the Cubs in the NLCS. Cubs hitting has been dreadful - you're not going to beat the Dodgers by scoring one run per game - and, well, I'm okay with that. Game 5 is tonight, and with luck, it'll end the series.
Blade Runner 2049. In every way, this is a nearly-perfect sequel. It's beautiful and well-crafted and thoughtful, and sometimes quite messy. The music, though ... it's nowhere near Vangelis' score, and often entirely too loud. Discussion in the comments to avoid spoilers.
Holing up at the farm for a few days while Mom&Dad are off to a wedding. Just me and the world's neediest Doberman.
