One way Street
Nov. 12th, 2017 09:41 pmAfter Friday night's Epic X-Wing game and a standard game against Zac T, I was a mentally fatigued come Saturday morning. I had plans to go out for lunch or something, but opted to throw a rack of ribs in the slow cooker and spend the day reading. It was a pretty good choice. There was football and a chat with Dad, and the ribs were delicious, with enough leftovers for brunch today.
Oh, yeah, there was a last Armada tournament at PSC yesterday. Didn't go. Got the goodies I would have wanted from the prize kit a week or so ago, and I'm sure Arbra would have had some more loot, but I wasn't all that keen on playing. Besides, we're having a last Armada open meet on the 15th, so all good.
Another reason I skipped out - Donald W scheduled a casual X-Wing tournament at TTD today, and he had an alt-art Horton Salm set aside for me. I went 1-3, had a good time, could have done better, but whatever. I don't build super-competitive squadrons; I'm there to have a good time, and that's why I limit my tournament time to informal events. Anyway, the guy I beat ... Andrew is just a vortex of misery. He's competitive, but not very good, which doesn't mesh well with my not-competitive but okay and sometimes good play. I started getting the best of him late in the game, and that's when he started his bullshit. Mouthing off or whining when rolls didn't go his way, just childish and dickish behavior. And it got worse when I didn't respond. Just didn't say anything unrelated to the action on the tabletop.
So, policy: Don't play against him unless we're paired in tournament play. Definitely do not partner with him in Epic play. Don't engage him when his whining starts. And keep and ear and eye out for his outbursts. Make damned sure he doesn't threaten or hurt anyone.
Fucking nerds, man.
