If I have any kind of New Year's Eve tradition left, it's watching Strange Days. I love this movie, warts and all. I remember seeing that first trailer, my girlfriend putting the screen saver on her desktop - and removing it an hour later because you couldn't turn off the jarring audio. I blew off a night of work to see a preview showing at UK's old Worsham Theater. We left that old space just stunned by what we had seen. I don't know that I have a favorite movie, but when someone asks, this one leaps to mind.

1995 was, all things considered, a hell of a year at the movies. Heat. Goldeneye. Apollo 13. 12 Monkeys. The Usual Suspects. Rob Roy. Heck, there was The Postman! I spent so much time in theaters then. The Kentucky Theater's schedule was the core of my social calendar then -  two months of midnight shows to see, animation festivals, weird indies and arthouse productions. Heady, fun times.

Saw a Yahoo News story this afternoon about the Nashville suicide bomber. He may have been an Icke-style lizard people conspiracy nut. Weird as hell, but this is the world we live in now.
