Mom did in fact break her hip in the fall. She was transported to Ephraim McDowell late Monday night and had replacement surgery around midday Tuesday (yesterday). Everything went well, and she should be discharged soon. Going to be a long stretch of recovery, lots of bedrest, so I'm going to be spending every other weekend at the farm, helping her and Dad as much as I can.

We talked for a little while last night. She was still a little groggy from the anesthesia and maybe a hit or two of painkillers. We talked about some health and safety concerns, and I think she's going to get a smartwatch, probably an Apple Watch because of its fall-sensing and emergency services contact features. Maybe this is closing the barn door after the horse has escaped, but it's a good measure.

The hospital is still on a COVID-19 protocol, so no visitors after 5PM. I don't like it, but I understand it. It's a reminder that we're not out of the woods just yet with this damned thing.

Rain today, sometimes heavy and quite relaxing. Big drop in air temperature as the front rolled in - we were at about 80F when I left the house this morning, and below 70 right when the rain started. Strong winds, too, so it was just beautiful for a little while.
