Curse of the Golden Flower
May. 24th, 2021 09:15 pmI managed to relax some over the weekend - didn't sleep late either day, but kept myself in bed until at least mid-morning both days. Felt pretty darn good to just lay there for a while, reading and listening to Weekend Edition. Stocked the cabinets and freezer. Played MCC on Saturday afternoon, read some more Cussler. Watched the Dodgers beat up on the Giants, sweeping the series.
The red-eyed cicadas of Brood 10 sure seem to like my truck's tires for whatever insectoid reason. There have been a bunch of them on the tires the last few mornings, and a few on the hood. This afternoon was the first time I've heard the things; not really loud, but you can't not hear them in the neighborhood. Hope the birds and other insectivores are able to enjoy this bounty.
I listened to several episodes of Knowledge Fight yesterday. Gods bless these guys for listening to Alex Jones so the rest of us don't have to. I knew that Jones is, to be technical, a loon, but good grief, I didn't really understand that Sweet Christmas this guy is absolutely nuts.
Well crap. Mom just called. She's taken a fall and injured herself, maybe a broken hip. Hospitalized in Liberty, not yet X-rayed or otherwise examined, and Dad's out on the road. She told me not to worry about going down to see her just yet - an uncle and aunt are there with her. I do not like this at all.
