The three hours of my CERT class Thursday night were more productive and interesting and rewarding than the 32 hours I spent at the office last week. The firefighters who handled our hands-on training were a terrific bunch of guys, and their captain had no shortage of cop jokes.

The Earthdawn game's progressing well enough, but I could not stay focused on playing last session. Wednesday night group took another week off from Hollow Earth Expedition, and I'm starting to think maybe this game's not going to work out. Not something I can devote a lot of time to right now, as I've got a Traveller one-shot in a few days, and I'm still cramming for that one. Looking forward to getting in a Legend of the Five Rings game that day, too.

It's a good experience. I honestly love being back in a classroom and learning things. It certainly throws a harsh light on the stagnation of the past few years.

I'm going to try for the CFA here in the fall; there's a CPA as well, but I'm honestly not too interested in that one.

Once CERT's over and I've got that to attach to my resume, I'm going to update my Medical Reserve Corps information and see what kind of training's available there.

Don't knock the CPA - While I'm not heavily into that field, it was still pretty interesting stuff. I was sad I missed out on the building search exercise and the tour of Blackburn (Blackthorn? I forget what it's called)
