I am blessed and cursed with a fairly vivid imagination.  With a halfway decent description, I can put together a tremendously clear and detailed mental image.  In many cases, I can write out, in language ranging from flowery and lovely to a level of crassness and vulgarity better seen in some of the worse days of USENET, a sufficiently clear description of what I'm seeing in my mind's eye that the joy or pain is shared with anyone who comes across the words in question.

In the past three days, I've encountered a couple of events, in scattered and unrelated corners of the 'Net, that have made me a bit queasy, because I can't not see the horror described therein.  I've tried.  I've tried with video games.  I've tried with excellent science fiction and noir detective stories.  I've tried with various incarnations of porn.  It just doesn't work.  The next stage in the plan is strong drink.  Wish me luck.  I would not wish these image upon people I dislike, much less you good folks.

Moving on, Teen Titans #50 is one of the best reads I've had since getting back into comics.

Would it help to talk about them ad nauseum until you burn it out of your system? Sometimes that helps me.

I don't know, but I think I'm going to try and write it out. Maybe if I inflict this horror on paper or electrons, it'll clear out of my brain.

I feel your pain. There are news stories that I will not read, based on the headlines, because I fear they will gnaw at me for days.
