We Have Done Good Work Today
Oct. 28th, 2007 10:38 pmThe wedding is done. A good-sized crowd, terrific weather, and heartbreakingly beautiful scenery.
elalyr was as lovely as a bride could be, and my boy
tegyrius was all kinds of dashing. I made a couple of small flubs in my address, but recovered nicely. Sounded good. Felt good. Nearly broke up right at the end, and was shaking like a leaf by the time I was done.
The reception was great fun. Re-establishing contact with friends I just don't get to see enough, particularly Houses Mertz and Forsythe. Tasty food, courtesy of the Kentucky State Resort Park System. A surprising encounter with a friend of Clayton's that has really given me something to think about tonight. Time and talks with dear sweet Erin (who looked so very lovely herself) that completely reversed my train of thought on some things. Elalyr's awesome castle wedding cake with household banners created by Tegyrius, surrounded by holy-cow-delicious cupcakes.
Uncountable handshakes and hugs, and probably more photos than I'll ever know. Bringing two families together. Good times all around. For all of you that were there, thank you, on behalf of the newlyweds. As for me, thank you for hearing me deliver my address. Elalyr, Tegyrius, thank you for giving me the chance to be part of your wedding. I love you both.
But for now, it's time for a little rest. Some reading and a late light dinner. The World Series is on the radio, my heart and mind are at peace, and I am happy.
