First Attack
Jan. 14th, 2008 12:50 amGreen Bay easily handled Seattle, and New England knocked off Jacksonville. Dallas lost to the New York Giants, and San Diego beat Indianapolis. I expect to see the Packers beat the Giants and the Patriots beat the Chargers next weekend to set up a Packers-Patriots Super Bowl.
Went to Liberty on Saturday to set up Mom&Dad's home audio system, a very nice Sony Bravia rig. Dad was ambivalent about the whole thing, until we turned on a basketball game. Hearing the crowd noise from behind him and the thud of the basketball through the subwoofer convinced him pretty quickly. Also - thank you, Sony, for that terrific color-coding. Made this task much easier.
Have had minimal luck recruiting for Traveller. My confidence is weakened somewhat, but I think I'm going to forge ahead with it.
Fox debuted its Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles series tonight, and it was pretty darn good. It ignores T3 (and thank goodness for that), and forges ahead with its own story. The Terminator sent back to protect John Connor this time is played by Summer Glau, and, well, gentlemen in the audience, if you were going to send back someone to take care of your teenage self, wouldn't you choose someone like her? Anyway - some clever things take place, and the backstory of the resistance sending an engineer back to set up a cache for eventual use is pretty neat. There's something else, too - the Terminator, Sarah, and John time-jump forward from 1999 to 2007 in the episode ... and based on the script for The Terminator, Kyle Reese is born in '07 or '08. Timelines are all muddied now, of course, but I do kinda like the idea that John is running around hiding from Terminators while his father is only now an infant.
Have been asked to go to GenCon this year. Since I'm not going to Conglomeration, that's now an option. Will see how things develop.
