I finished reading The Sky People (S. M. Stirling) this evening.  Pulp action in the 1960s on a Venus full of dinosaurs and primitive humans.  Seriously - this is old-style planetary romance with a solid dose of firm science fiction.  The newly-released sequel takes on Mars, in a similar vein.

Of late, I've been planning on replacing my Windows machines with Macs.  The plan has been to purchase a Macbook first, then an iMac.  I'm starting to reconsider this.  My desktop machine is old.  How old?  Came from the store with Win98 on it.  It's already seen one mechanical failure (the power supply), and that makes me think that maybe it should be retired first.  Blue Max here, my Toshiba laptop, is more than serviceable, if a little slow to start up, and has a larger screen than current Macbooks (15" versus 13.3").  So, maybe now it's going to be an iMac first, then I'll get really bold and angle for a Macbook Pro.

Grand Theft Auto IV released today, and it was predicted to be a bigger launch, in terms of sales, than Halo 3.  Early reviews have been extremely good.  I'm looking forward to seeing more on this one.

Apple just updated the iMac line yesterday. Were I in the market, I'd check their clearance prices on the previous generation...

Hm. I'd noticed that the listing in the refurb store had changed from Previous or Current Generation to White or Aluminum. I guess that's why.

1) I'm enjoying the hell out of GTA IV thus far. Liberty City is great so far and I've not gotten out for Broker/Dukes.

2) C'mon, join the cult. My new iMac should be showing up shortly.

Have you tried out the multiplayer options yet?

I'm already in the Mac fellowship, thanks to the workplace. Thing is, I use my laptop a lot more than my desktop, and that's got me going back and forth on which machine to pick up first.

Not yet, mainly because I'm still acclimating myself to the game. Heck, I've gone through about6 missions and haven't gotten a weapon more powerful than a thrown brick.
