If the forecasts hold, today will be the last day of the too-long summer.  Shouldn't still be in the 90s through the first week of October.  Wednesday's predicted high is just shy of 70 - that's more like it.

Gave the wedding address a run-through Thursday night.  The soon-to-be-newlyweds were happy with my writing, and so long as I can remember to really gear down my speaking speed, we should be fine.  Yesterday afternoon, we went out to Natural Bridge to check out facilities and locations.  The pavilion and activity room should do nicely - my voice carried really well under the pavilion.  The skylift ride was relaxing, even given my fear of heights.

Driving back from the park, the Explorer overheated again.  Grr.  I'm going to have to replace the thermostat or maybe the fan motor.  On the upside, we found a terrific little cafe in Winchester.

Saturday night was Aaron's monthly gaming meet.  I ran for 8 people.  Would have been 9, but a late aspirant was gently rebuffed.  I have discovered again that I don't especially care for running for a group that size - 6 is a comfortable cap for me.  Still, though, I had a good time, and hopefully, we'll finally finish this thing at November's meet, so I can move on to something else.

Today, for my countrymen, is Columbus Day.  I don't think there's really any observance of it anymore, besides sales at Dillard's, no mail, and some banks shut down.  I have already heard it called "Indigenous Peoples Suppression Day" once.

Greatly digging on my shiny new DS Lite.  Age of Empires is shaping up to be a pocket-sized Civ surrogate, and I restarted my Golden Sun (GBA) game.  The DS's screen quality is so very nice, and it makes playing older GBA titles a lot more pleasant.

Time to get started on the workweek.  My wingman will be back on Wednesday.
