A Month of Sundays
Dec. 31st, 2007 08:44 amThursday and Friday were dead-slow at work. Thursday night, I was finished at 5:45; Friday, at 7:00. This is really not good.
Saw I am Legend on Saturday. It's really a remake of The Omega Man more than an adaptation of the Matheson novella, and for the most part, it's pretty darn good. The early scenes establishing the emptiness of the world really worked for me, one shot in particular being the flooded Holland Tunnel. The movie fell apart in the last third, though. Rather than a cut, I'll throw up the deal-breaking spoiler in a comment to this post later today.
I am Legend did put me in a mind of a Damnation Decade game, though.
The NFL's regular season came to an end yesterday. New England went 16-0 on the season, and I'll be very surprised if they don't win the Super Bowl. Wild card games are this weekend; hoping for Seahawks over Redskins, Buccaneers over Giants, and Jaguars over Steelers. No real preference between the Chargers and Titans; San Diego's got my backing for sake of the conference, but I do like the Titans.
Still reading Glen Cook's The Black Company. It's quite good. Finished reading one of the books from the Green Ronin Apocalypse Sale - the Future Player's Companion. If I'd dropped the $24 cover price on this thing, I would have been pissed. Honestly, I can't say as I got my $2 worth out of it. Have moved along to the first book in the Hamunaptra boxed set, and I think it's going to be a more enjoyable experience.
Perhaps foolishly, I added Hollow Earth Expedition and Iron Age to my gaming to-read stack. At the blistering pace I've been reading lately, I should get to them sometime in late spring.
I've got to get regular gaming back underway, and soon. Have to work up Stargate SG-1, Deadlands: Hell on Earth, and Conspiracy X one-shots, and re-recruit for a Traveller game.
