Midnight on the Rue Jules Verne
Aug. 1st, 2008 07:10 amThe week hasn't been as panicky as I expected it to be, but there have been a few hitches. Mostly, they've been due to communications problems. Next week will be a bigger and uglier test, due in no small part to two people being on vacation. While their timing isn't the best, they scheduled their vacation time around the timeline that we had been promised about this project's development, and I can't fault them for going ahead with their plans. And, besides, they're two of the best people in the building and I love working with them both.
Tonight could be a very long evening at 100 Midland. We're down one designer, and there is a huge amount of work on the print calendar - very nearly double our normal Friday night workload. Again, bad scheduling on several parts, but there's nothing to be done. I've already picked up a few hours of forbidden overtime this week, and I expect to see more of it tonight. That's fine by me - it'll all go on the paycheck that comes while I'm at GenCon.
I've not been sleeping well this week. More accurately, I've been waking up off-and-on during the night, and finally waking up for good rather early.
Brief, but fun, Freeport session last night. Quite possibly the last one I'll have to be stupidly late for. As it was, had a phone call been made a few minutes earlier than it was, I would have been sufficiently late that I would have missed the entire session. Have started filling in the blanks on an upcoming Star Wars one-shot, and putting down the briefest of ideas for a few other games.
Visiting family this weekend, I think. One of my aunts is staying with Mom&Dad for a while, and I should really take the chance to see her while I can.
Manny Ramirez is now a Dodger. Heck of a player, but there are personality issues. Sure hope they can be overcome, 'cause my boys can use all the help they can get.
