Oct. 1st, 2008 09:13 pmSo, according to the LJ front page, today is the anniversary of Neuromancer's initial publication. Heck, yes. It's also the 50th anniversary of the founding of NASA. All in all, a pretty good day.
Related, the folks at SpaceX finally got a successful orbital insertion with their Falcon 1 launcher. The payload was a boilerplate satellite, but now that they've identified the problem with past launches, I expect we'll see actual payloads going up soon enough.
The National League Division Series started tonight. My Dodgers are currently leading the Cubs 5-2. The Cubs are probably the better team, but LA is overdue for a trip to the World Series. And let's put an end to any "But the Cubs haven't been..." nonsense right now. Tripping on the threshold of immortality is the Cubs' job. They are meant, forever, to get oh-so-close, and then just blow it.
Tonight's
ukmsu meeting was fairly productive. A good amount of discussion about UKON and the continuing collaboration between Aaron M's Meetup group and the UK club. This is a good thing.
