Midterms could have gone better, but also could have gone much much worse. One stands out - Management. Not at all a good exam, and the entire cohort raised a ruckus about it. I don't think the grading was accurate or the test useful, but I landed a midrange A out of the thing, so I'm going to take the score and run.

There are rumors that the class's professor is on his way out, and maybe not voluntarily. Current dean seems to be gently but firmly moving some of previous dean's personnel out, and Management Professor is high on the target list. Above my level, and in this case, at least, shouldn't affect me. But interesting.

We declare our concentrations this week. I've been thinking hard about this since mid-September, and I think I'm going to switch from Epidemiology to Health Promotion and Behavior Science. I looked at the curricula for the two concentrations, my own career plans, and my skills and abilities, and Health Promo just fits better. I can dip into Epi as cases require, so I won't completely be abandoning the discipline.

Following our declarations, we start working on lining up our summer/fall (and maybe spring) practicum. Health Promo has no small number of options and agreements already in place; plenty here in Louisville, of course, but quite a few out in the Commonwealth. I'm thinking about setting up with Kentucky One, and working out of their Taylor County hospital. Alternately, I could work something up with the Lake Cumberland regional health department; since we don't have anything in place with that agency, I'd have to create a practicum from the ground up. While that would be a nice resume builder, I think I'd be better served by taking on an established relationship.

I'm starting up a pickup Delta Green game next month. Rotating cast, play when we can, all that. Should be fun.

This is going to be a long day. Up later than I should have been, but worth it. Just have to power through the next nine hours.
