Sure enough, ESPN College Football Gameday is coming to you from Cardinal Stadium tomorrow. Biggest game of the weekend, FSU is only a 2-point favorite, and this city and campus are getting fired up. DirecTV's blimp has been at Bowman for the past few days, and was inflated and illuminated yesterday morning - very pretty!

Tomorrow is also the American Heart Association Heart Walk. I'm participating with the school's team, and with very little effort have found myself one of the top fundraisers. Unfortuneately, the weather forecast is not good, and I expect I'll only walk the one-mile course. Had plans to drive down to Bowling Green and meet Carter at a model train show, but since he's now involved with a rail museum, I'll go to Nashville sometime and we'll play with real trains instead.

As of this week, I have six faculty members, a dean, an associate dean, and at least two advisors telling me not to stop with the MPH. I am listening to this advice, in keeping with my promise. The next discussions will have to be about research and funding. The MPH is a good professional degree, but a PhD is going to carry a lot more weight if I start working in policy development and improvement. That's really the goal, despite my MRC and emergency response work.
