Heck of a night. A powerful storm system came through last night, hitting western Kentucky awfully hard. Mayfield got the worst of it. The courthouse and most of the town proper are wrecked. A candle factory was leveled while a full 110-person shift was working inside. The tornado's ground track was something like 225 miles, and at one point, the NWS recorded a 303MPH wind speed. WKU's campus took a hit; today would have been graduation for the fall semester. There was damage, including a roof fire at the Corvette plant. Estimated 50-100 deaths. Governor Beshear announced a state of emergency before sunrise this morning, and President Biden is sending federal assistance.

A monster spring storm, in early December.
