French Twist
Aug. 8th, 2018 09:47 amThe GenCon trip was good. Really good. Saw almost everyone I wanted to, and there were a couple of pleasant surprises, too.
The Mistborn board game sold well, and the prestige version sold out; the RPG continues to be a money-maker, and Crafty's extending the license for a few more years. FFG had the X-Wing Second Edition starter, as promised, and a large stock of expansions and conversion kits. They were showing off the new SSD model, too, and that thing got a lot of attention. Delta Green won six Ennies.
There was some weirdness, of course. A guy got arrested around 6AM Sunday when someone found his 10-year-old daughter in their car in a parking garage. Mercedes Lackey got extremely sick due to chemical outgassing in her newly-remodeled room at the Marriott. Some right-wing Youtube guy who'd been banned from official Magic: tG events claimed that he was attacked over politics, but that seems to not have happened.
I needed the trip. I came home Monday morning with the same exhilaration and exhaustion as I got from a full five-day trip.
