For a few years back in the late 90s/early 00s, Marcon gave me a perfectly good excuse to skip out on boring family reunions. I didn't really need an excuse more than "it's boring and I don't really like most of these people," but the con was a useful deflection. It's been a long time since I've gone to Marcon, and unless I moved to the Columbus area, I don't think I'll go again.

I'll probably pass reasonably close to the con's site in the next few days. A distant cousin died yesterday morning, and Dad's planning to go up to northeast Ohio for the funeral, which means I'll more than likely go along for the ride. Herb was a good guy.

Huh. Looks like Marcon's back to Memorial Day weekend, so I could use it to skip the reunion again, but no. It'd mean missing the Indy 500.

Dad reminded me just a little while ago that I did go to said reunion last year, and that we skipped out early to go to a wedding that neither of us really wanted to be at. I didn't remember the date at all. No big deal.
