Derby's over.  Queen Elizabeth's plane took off from Bluegrass about 15 minutes ago, and now my fair state drops back out of the national spotlight until the next weather disaster or mine explosion.

Ann Northup (running for a Republican nomination for Governor) has a commercial stating that should the Dems win the election in November, then "Liberals will be in power!"  Ann, you dumb sack of meat, name one - besides Gatewood - Dem candidate who could be remotely considered a gawdless librul.  C'mon ... anybody?

I am being led to understand that the results of this weekend's elections in France (86% voter turnout - holy shit!) mean the end of the world or something.

Some very heavy weather here yesterday.  Rain and storms, all that good stuff.  Not especially conducive to being outside, so I stayed in and wrote.  And rewrote, to no small degree.  Evening found me on my way to Berea to pick up Erin, and we had a good evening together.

Back to work now.

No, not the end of the world. Just more of the same, really. Sarko's in Chirac's party and goes by pretty much the same politics. Some personality differences. The margin was pretty slim - 53% to whatever for the win, I think - about as much as bush one, but our crackshot American press is calling it a decisive victory, because that's what they do, and that's what passes for one here.

We are a nation where the current head-of-state views his loss of the popular vote in 2000 as a mandate from God, remember?

Though I had hoped for more, I am impressed that Royal did as well as she did. Despite its literary history, I still saw France as extremely sexist. Moreso than here.
