If I Were a Weapon
Dec. 12th, 2007 07:42 amYesterday set a new record high for the date here in Lexington - 70F. Back to normal mid-40s today, and dropping over the next few days, with rain coming and going. I'll take this over the mess in Oklahoma/Kansas/Missouri - massive ice storms, and about 1 million people without power.
I've started playing The Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap. It's, I believe, the final Zelda game for the GBA, and it's one of those games that shows what a lengthy time learning a particular machine's capabilities can produce. Visually and in terms of gameplay, it's definitely a Zelda game - heavy on puzzles and swordplay, with neat little magical gadgets here and there, and the familiar Zelda theme music and "da-da-da-DA!" fanfare when you acquire an important item are like old happy memories bubbling up. The game looks terrific on my DS Lite, and it's going to be my regular lunchtime diversion for a while.
I put together a few characters for Star Wars Saga Edition last night, and was pleasantly surprised at how quickly they came together. They were built to 4th level, trying to replicate the mix of characters that I was used to seeing when I ran SW under West End's rules, and I think this is going to work. The talent trees are almost like subclasses, and for a game with only five base classes, they allow a lot of variety in characters.
Less than two weeks until Christmas, and my normal pre-holiday crankiness is not yet in evidence. Maybe I'm mellowing out.
