Big-time heavy weather last night.  Tornadoes in the western part of the state, and warnings here and in the county I grew up in.  Significant flooding and power outages down that way;  one of Lexington's main roads is closed today for cleanup and repair to power lines.  Something like 50 people killed by the storms throughout the South and Midwest.

Today, my employer's parent company releases its earning reports, and early word is that revenue is off by about 9% from the previous year.  There's a lot of worry in the building, particularly in my department, and the next few weeks are going to be interesting, in a Chinese-curse way of speaking.

I received my contracts for further work with Crafty Games yesterday.  There are some projects that I'm going to start lobbying for, either as contracted work or private work under the [REDACTED] banner.

L5R tomorrow night.  Still have some work to do, but I'm mostly ready to go.

Another Thrilling Tale of LFUCK Stupidity:

The power was out at several intersections last night. In some of them, the cops pulled their cars up into the middle of the intersection so you couldn't actually see if anyone was coming the other way thanks to the blinding lights in your face. Where they couldn't spare the manpower for that, they put stop signs IN THE MIDDLE OF THE LANES. Not on the center line--in the middle of each lane. So on a two-lane one way street, you had two lanes of traffic merging into the middle of the road to get between the signs. At first I thought some kids had moved the signs, so I called the police department to let them know. Later, I saw a spot that had signs in the middle of the lanes AND a cop in the middle of the intersection, so I guess it was intentional. I'm becoming more and more convinced that the mayor or someone owns either a car insurance company or an auto body shop (and maybe a transmission and/or brake shop, too, based on how the stoplights in this town are set up).

Wow. I'm increasingly glad I was able to stay holed up last night.

One of our graphic artists lives near Harrodsburg Road, and he said it took him about 40 minutes to get out of his driveway this afternoon, as his street is one of the main detour routes.

If I went out and saw that, well, one of those PTO days would be looking real good. At the least I'd call and say "I'll be in when I can be in and not a minute earlier.".
