The Beginning and the End
Jan. 9th, 2014 09:47 pmEarly this week, a weather system called a polar vortex moved through the Commonwealth, and most of the rest of North America, too. Whoever named this thing wasn't kidding. It was cold. Dangerously, brutally, frighteningly cold. Temperatures dropped to zero and below, before adjusting for wind chill - at 10PM Monday night, the difference between the air temperature outside my apartment and that inside was about 93F. After making quite the mess, the system moved on, and now our weather is, in fact, a little warmer than normal.
After entirely too long, I'm a student again. I'm taking a single 100-level course at Bluegrass Community and Technical College. It's been a more complex and lengthy process than I expected, and these four credit hours are going to cost ... a fat stack of cash. But I've embraced these things. I've embraced other things, too - the fear of failing, of falling short, of just blowing this chance like I have so many ones before.
I've got a backup plan in hand. I may have living arrangements in Louisville locked down as soon as this weekend. I'm moving forward for the first time in years.
