It is True
Mar. 1st, 2018 06:01 pmDespite some rain yesterday and today, the river is going back down. I guess it would be more accurate to say "rivers," but here in Louisville, the Salt River really doesn't factor into things. Floodwalls are coming down. Cleanup has started at Waterfront Park, most streets - Zorn Avenue and River Road being most important - have reopened. Looks like things will be below flood stage Saturday evening.
I had one of my best Armada wins ever last weekend. My fleet was designed to harass opponents, to tie up stronger Imperial forces and keep them away from my allied fleets, to not get into a stand-up fight. The first engagement of the campaign, I went up against three Imperial 2 Star Destroyers, and predictably, got my hat handed to me - lost two CR90s, inflicting only minor damage on one of the ISDs. The second engagement went better - I lost all three of my CR90s, destroying two equivalent Imperial ships, but landed hull damage on one of the accompanying Victory 2s, and by the conditions of the objective, scored enough points to win the engagement. For the third engagement, Task Force 29 was at full ship strength and bolstered by seven starfighter squadrons. The opposing fleet was a pair each of Imperial 2s and Raider 2 corvettes; both corvettes were damaged from previous engagements. I planned to focus on those two ships, because destroying them would remove them from the campaign for good. Well, it worked, and as a function of Armada's turn-taking system, I wound up dogpiling one of the ISDs. My frigates and corvettes wore down its defenses, letting my attack squadrons score constant and heavy damage on it. I lost a single CR90, and crippled an ISD and destroyed two corvettes. I was stunned.
The illness continues. Sunday was bad - I barely got out of bed, and was feverish most of the night. It's down to an occasional cough and some congestion, enough to make its presence known without really being debilitating, but I want it gone. My immune system has gone to shit in the last year, and I do not like it one bit.
