One Giant Leap
Sep. 15th, 2019 10:19 amFFG snuck one in on us. The equipment sourcebook for the Star Wars line appeared in stores on Friday. Wasn't expecting that one to show for a couple of weeks, at least. So, of course I bought it, since I was at the store for game night anyway.
And it was an interesting night at the gaming tables. Pre-season night for the X-Wing league, and I played Ken. Ken's a good opponent, and a better player than me, but I got the win. He was flying a couple of the very new and funky Separatist tractor beam fighters, against my unexciting Resistance Transport and pair of T-70s. I made a number of mistakes, and lost the Transport mid-game (but not before it torpedoed a Fang Fighter into vapor), but the X-Wings endured and delivered enough damage to win.
And then we played our RPG session. The PCs got into a massive firefight with a team of bounty hunters, got hurt pretty badly, killed Dengar (!), and beat a hasty retreat into Hutt Space in search of a friendly and discreet shadow port. Shouldn't be too hard to adjust all of the the material I had planned to represent their new locale. Gotta squeeze quite a bit of action into these next few sessions - one of my players is leaving for Basic at the end of October and I want to give him as much resolution as I can. And after that, it's not long until the Battle of Endor.
I renewed my WoW subscription a little sooner than expected. I try to be active through October, because I love Halloween both on Earth and Azeroth. Signed up early for a sale on the last expansion (Void Elves!), and got back into things last night after work.
