tracker7I saw Miami Vice Friday night. Very impressed - it ran just a bit too long, but Michael Mann isn't one for making small movies.
Jamie Foxx and Colin Farrell seem comfortable in their roles as Tubbs and Crockett, respectively, and seeing them was very much like seeing old friends again. The characters of Gina and Trudi have more to do in this 150-minute movie, it seems, than they did in the entire previous incarnation of MV.
The villains are, in broad strokes, ones we've seen before - South American druglords, with a broad base of underlings for our heroes to get caught up in.
It is an extraordinarily violent movie, and Jamie Foxx's Ricardo Tubbs is a killing machine. No stupid cameos or sly nods to the TV series.
Very sexy cars and boats, with plenty of candy for the gunfondlers out there.
This is the first movie or 2006 that I plan to see again. 9 of 10 stars.
