Woke up this morning to some fuckery involving one of my best friends. Ben's been doing some semi-professional photography for a few months now, and has built up a pretty good reputation in his area - cosplay shoots, mostly, but plenty of other work.

Last weekend was Matsuricon, which I take it is a an anime/cosplay con, and it's local to Ben, so he decided to go and take photos and all that. Some other attendee overheard part of a conversation Ben had with another photographer and decided to make A Thing out of it, attacking his reputation. Some of her comments are pretty easily disproven, and Ben's handling things professionally, but this pisses me off. He's considering swearing off conventions over this, and I can't fault him, to be honest.

I like cons. I've made some amazing friends at cons, had far more good times than bad, and I'm looking forward to Galaxycon and Conglomeration and, of course, GenCon already. This attack on my friend isn't going to keep me from having a good time, and hopefully making the con a better time for someone else. I am sure as anything going to be more alert and aware of goings-on, though.

It's the first day of spring, and since noon, about two inches of snow have fallen, and the current forecast calls for a couple more before sunrise, with an inch more east of here. That's just not what I wanted to hear, since Bourbon County demands my appearance at 9AM.

Saw Mom&Dad Sunday. Dad did his best to get Mom and me to pay attention to and talk about the basketball tournament games, but since UK wasn't playing, Mom didn't care, and since it's basketball, I didn't either. The IMSA races were more interesting to us, and our books were even more so. Good drive to and from the farm, with no antler-rats appearing at any time.
