Striking Vipers
May. 5th, 2021 06:28 pmFinally took the brief few minutes I needed and filed my taxes. Owed the Commonwealth a couple of fast-food meals, and there's a decent Federal refund coming. I'll happily take that.
Started reading Goodman's big ol' X2 Castle Amber revisit today. I read, but never played or DMed that one way back when. The setting stuck with me over the decades, though - I didn't know why I liked Averoigne, but I sure was taken with what I was reading. It was a long time before I found the source material; it paid off in spades. I've read all of Clark Ashton Smith's Averoigne stories (I think), and there's a collection of tribute stories on my nightstand; since far future dying Earth stuff works for me, too, I'm going to get my hands on his Zothique tales sometime soon.
This weekend should see me getting back to some kind of routine. X-Wing Friday evening, Mutant Crawl Chronicles Saturday afternoon. I'm going to find Mom a gift sometime between now and Sunday morning; probably a suncatcher or the like to go with the cardinal sculpture I got her and Dad for their anniversary. Next weekend, a train show up in Franklin, Indiana. I'm about 50-50 on going to that one - I'd go on Sunday, and that might mean some good deals. On the other hand, I've got the Hex family retreat over the first weekend in June, and Sundays are really good mornings to lie in and be restful and lazy.
Must be a training weekend coming up for the Reserve unit at Bowman. Couple of Blackhawks just went overhead, low enough to rattle the house. And with that, bedtime for me.
