All Tomorrow's Parties

I woke up godawful early Sunday morning - some measurable chunk of time before 7. Not at all happy about that. Tried to make creative use of the time, but no luck. Went back to bed after a few hours, and woke up around 1. Drove to Berea through some very heavy weather, and was glad to not be in the Explorer. Crosswinds were very high, and seeing tractor-trailers crabbing in and out of lanes made me a little bit nervous.
Erin's concert was terrific. She conducted two pieces and played in the eight or nine others. During Comme Il Faut, I got a reminder of the strength of her chosen instrument. The performance started off nice and soft, but when it was time for the saxophones to come in, you could easily imagine all the other instruments just making way for their betters.
After the concert, we went to see Iron Man. It holds up just as well on a second viewing (oh, and choke on it, Wachowskis), and I caught one or two little details I'd missed before, like the SHIELD emblem painted on the garage wall. Fanboyism aside, I'm still marking this one as my favorite supers movie. There's just nothing wrong with it.
Today started off pretty well. I was ready to get back to work, and it was a busy day. I worked through lunch and still left a good-sized stack of material on my desk. Around 2 p.m., I started feeling a little wonky, and spent the next three hours alternating between my desk and the restroom in about a 2:1 ratio as my digestive track decided to purge itself of anything and everything. I got home, ate a few crackers, and conked out on the couch for a few hours. Very very weak. A sufficiently-motivated kitten would get the best of me right now. This sucks.
And now, off to bed. Hoping for a better day tomorrow.

Also, did you know that the workshop/garage scenes were filmed in the hangar where Howard Hughes built the Spruce Goose?
Jon Favreau, you are such a nerd. :D
