Loved by the Sun
Dec. 1st, 2007 06:26 pmGot the Explorer in the shop early yesterday morning. Muffler was still in good shape, but there was wear showing. And the muffler was nowhere close to a Cologne V6's intended counterpart - it was oversized (probably meant for a V8 pickup installation) and the piping leading from manifold to muffler was all kinked up to get the muffler in place. New exhaust, proper muffler, no resonator, and the big guy seems to have a bit more thrust to him now.
Mom and Micahalia came up today to do some Christmas shopping. Mom bought Dad's primary gift (which, come Christmas Day, Matt and I will set up). Micahalia and I looked at a lot of video game stuff (and we got her a new 12-volt adapter for her DS Lite), and she played with the Wii for a while when we came back to my place for lunch.
I'm down to the last mission on Ace Combat 4. Flying the F-15 ACTIVE down a tunnel is quite tricky. The next-to-last mission was a real bastard, ending with a pack of Su-37s dogpiling me in my good ol' F/A-18. In a close-in dogfight, I discovered that the stand-the-Sukhoi-on-its-tail maneuver is impressive enough - except when I'm moving slow enough that all it does is give me a bigger cannon target. Clobbered at least two of the opposition that way.
What with all of the fansites out there, I'm thinking that the Ace Combat setting world might make for a nifty Spycraft game sometime. There are scads of conflicts to choose from, scattered across different geographical areas - all manner of places to go and things to do for an espionage- or special forces-themed game.
Wizards of the Coast released the first Dawn of Defiance adventures for Star Wars Saga Edition this week, and I am mightily impressed. Three sequential adventures, admittedly somewhat railroady, involving a band of characters with the foundation of the Rebellion.
Tomorrow's going to be a day for some laundry.
