I finished Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies last night.  Nice finale movie and denouement from the framing narration.  I greatly enjoyed my time spent in Strangereal, as the Ace Combat world has been named, and will eventually get back to it with Ace Combat 5 and AC Zero.

The Raiders got in another win today, against Denver!  Currently 4-8, but they're not likely to improve - the rest of the season is against Indianapolis, Green Bay, Jacksonville, and San Diego, all of whom are much better teams.  Still and all, a better season than last year (2-14).

The Bengals-Steelers game is about to get underway.  Game's at Pittsburgh, and the field doesn't look as awful as it did last week, but there has been rain there all day, and once the game's on, I do expect things to become a godawful mess in a hurry.

Today was the first game the Redskins played since their screamingly talented safety Sean Taylor was killed in a burglary at his home early last week.  They fielded only 10 men for the first play of the game, which I thought was a very classy move.  Their game against Buffalo was tight, with Washington leading by two points in the final seconds of the game.  In an attempt to "ice" the Bills' kicker, Washington called a timeout just before the ball was snapped - and one of the more obscure rules in the NFL is a team can't call consecutive timeouts.  Unsportsmanlike conduct, 15-yard penalty, placing the Bills in a better position for a field goal attempt.  Snap-kick-score, and the Bills win 17-16.

Now, I'm no fan of either team, but I think it would have been a real step in healing for the 'Skins to have won.  However, given that they lost while attempting this sorry-ass tactic that has suddenly become popular in the NFL, I can't feel too bad about it.

A few comments on TV advertisements, then I'll hang it up for the night.  First, Toyota, I've been around truckers, real ones, since I was three years old.  In those years, I have never heard any of the "Truckers say..." comments you twits are using in your ads.  Sure, the new Tundra's got some terrific capabilities, but it is one ass-ugly machine.  Second, Sony, every one of the new PSP commercials with the goon annoying people who are playing the PSP makes me more glad that I bought a DS Lite, instead of your machine.  I do love my PS2, but when the time comes to get my Wii a counterpart, I'm probably throwing my money to Mi ... nggh ... Microso ... ouch.  Oh, dammit, I'm going for the XBox 360.
