For several weeks, there's been an abandoned Dodge minivan on the side of Taylorsville Road, just shy of the 264 overpass. At some point, someone broke out the driver's side rear window, maybe to loot it, maybe to find shelter, maybe just for the joy of destroying something. This morning, it was gone. I hope the owner or their insurance company recovered it; just as likely, the city finally freed up enough space in its impound yard to collect and store the van.

For some time, the city's had problems with collecting and storing vehicles, whether abandoned or wreck-damaged or otherwise impounded. The existing impound yard over in Butchertown was way over capacity, and sat on property that's being developed into a big honkin' professional soccer stadium. So, vehicles that LMPD would have otherwise cleared were left where they lay, which of course led to other problems, nearly closing some tertiary roads in a couple of instances. Dangerous, and not a good look for the city.

Mom's hospitalized in Danville. Her blood pressure skyrocketed yesterday afternoon, and Dad took her in. So far, physician's orders are to keep up with her medication and change her diet - same as she's been told for several years, but she won't do it. This does not fill me with hope.
