Lost one of my characters in this afternoon's MCC session. It had always been a glass cannon - a high-strength low-stamina Plantient, maxing out its hit points at nine at third level. Soidee's demise leaves Stout Evan, the Sentinel, as the last survivor from the four zero-level characters I started with.

COVID-19's Delta variant is the new big thing, very infectious, even among vaccinated folks. CDC is recommending masks again, so of course those kinds of people are losing their shit again.

RIP Soidee.

About a month ago, or maybe just a little longer, it looked like we were gonna be able to leave the house again. We were getting excited about an old friend's wedding, another friend was coming into town. We were talking about being able to go grocery shopping ourselves again. Then we saw the numbers start to pick up. Nothing was done to keep this shit down, the conservatives ramped up their rhetoric, the administration starting rolling out "pandemic of the unvaxxed" and sure enough, the numbers started to climb again. I'm still stuck at home. Maybe forever, I guess?

I should be, right this minute, having dinner with my best friend and his wife - haven't seen them in at least a year, maybe closer to two. But, someone I work with tested positive and was hospitalized over the weekend, so, not willing to risk spreading the virus to them.

I was planning to head out your way and go to Archon this year, take my niece to her first con. Already reserved the hotel room and everything. I don't think that's going to happen now. Big wave of infections coming out of Missouri.

To hell with these ignoramuses. My compassion and patience are gone.

I very much wanted to go to Archon last year. I was hoping to go this year. Unfortunately fucking not. I hate how smug some people are about throwing the lives of others away. An absolute disaster.
